The software division was one of a few bright spots among HP’s rather dismal Q4 results this week but as it is only a slither (c3%) of HP’s overall business it could not touch the sides of downturns in other areas (see Captain Meg steadies the HP ship). Although software will continue to play an important part in the HP business, it will not become HP’s new ‘knitting’.
