It seems the purge on Wipro’s top team is not yet over (see Yet another top-level reshuffle at Wipro) with media reports that the only non-Indian (indeed, the only female) on Wipro’ executive council, Martha Bejar, is to leave the company in a couple of weeks. Bejar was recruited from Microsoft in July 2009 to head up Wipro’s global sales and operations but was subsequently sidelined to ‘Special Projects’. In April, Bejar was moved again to head up Infocrossing (see here), the US data centre business Wipro ill-advisedly (in my opinion!) acquired in 2007.
The final straw for Bejar was probably the persistent rumours that Wipro was attempting to sell Infocrossing but couldn’t find a buyer. Wipro has now rolled Infocrossing in (more logically) with its core infrastructure management services unit. Bejar was reportedly the highest paid executive at Wipro, with a salary of some $1m last year.
