Virgin Media Business’ ambitions - particularly where the Public Services Network (PSN) and Cloud are concerned (see Virgin Media means Business in UK public sector and Virgin flies into the cloud) – mean it’s appearing on our radar more frequently. So we have at least a passing interest in its Q4 results, released today, which show revenue growth of 13.9% in the quarter, resulting in 6.8% growth in full year revenue to £637m. According to Virgin Media Business’ MD Mark Heraghty, 2012 is likely to be “another year of good momentum and progress”.
Virgin entered the B2B telecoms market to shake it up and it’s evidently doing just that. Q4 has been a busy one for Virgin Media Business with the launch of its “Big Red VPN” product (to provide unconstrained bandwidth across a customer’s virtual private network) and notable contract wins with the DVLA (to provide business phone lines and an intelligent call management system) and Volkswagen Group. Over the coming months we’ll be keeping a particular eye on its business with the UK public sector - it is a key player in the nascent PSN market with a sizeable footprint in local government and big ambitions in central government.
