I was ‘called to task’ by UKAuthorITy.com for my iPads for MPs? post. In their response – Parliamentary iPad row takes BYO policy national – the point was made that, as the trend towards BYOT was pretty unstoppable in the private sector (and apparently in Local Government too) why shouldn’t MPs buy their own iPads rather than having them supplied by HM Govt (ie you and me), or putting them on expenses, which many have already done?
I really kick myself for not having made that comment myself. Afterall TechMarketView has been at the forefront of BYOT. Like most of our campaigns, initially people scorned the concept. Now it is pretty much mainstream thinking.
So, let MPs have iPads (or iPhones or whatever). But let them buy them out of their own pockets – increasingly like the rest of us!
