Digital barriersBuy and build homeland security system provider Digital Barriers is bringing existing partner Codestuff into the fold via a £750K cash-based acquisition. The tuck-in purchase adds to Digital Barriers’ growing portfolio of IP-rich security solutions and is further evidence of its highly focused approach to acquisitions and the surveillance sub sector of the public security market.

With revenue of £0.6m and an operating loss of £0.06m Scotland-based Codestuff will not bring much in terms of revenue but its IP video management software, network video recorder servers and development capability will extend Digital Barriers’ capability around the design of security system front ends.

What is almost as important is that Digital Barriers management says Codestuff will help it “effectively and coherently” deploy its existing and acquired and technologies. Making multiple acquisitions work together strategically, operationally and technically is no mean feat and the company has been very acquisitive since it was created just over two years ago (see the HotViews archive here).
