Moorepay adds a new dimension to the SaaS model

MoorepayIn a further indication that HCM has moved to the vanguard of SaaS applications (see the HotViews archive here), NorthgateArinso’s SME-centric operation Moorepay has launched its SaaS HCM solution. But there is more to it because as Moorepay MD Ann Fitzpatrick told us, the company has combined HCM with payroll capabilities to provide an integrated offering. Significantly, it also offers subscribers a range of advice lines (covering topics like employment law and health and safety compliance).

Targeted at 50 to 80 employee businesses, customers can pick and mix modules and pay on a per employee, per month basis. That is standard for the SaaS model but Moorepay does not tie customers into a set period and allows clients to decrease the number of subscriptions at any time. This is a level of flexibility we would like to see other SaaS providers offer as a matter of routine. The integrated HR/payroll aspect is appealing but the real differentiator is the advice line facility that provides SME’s with access to legal expertise that might otherwise be out of their reach.

As Fitzpatrick said, the combination of SaaS applications and on demand bureau services blurs the line between SaaS and outsourced services and in doing so, offers a richer service. The new service draws from Moorepay’s existing and acquired offerings but it is the packaging that is innovative. With its blended services it is adding another dimension to the SaaS model, a move that reflects wider market trends such as the gradual convergence between software and services. We believe blended offerings are an important area for service providers to explore as part of their work to make the most of the SaaS opportunity so will watch Moorepay’s progress with great interest.
