Atos logoAtos has been struggling to break into UK local government but it appears that ‘regional government’ is a different kettle of fish. The company has, this week, announced a three-year contract win with Historic Scotland, to provide support to the agency in the delivery of its key IT programmes (with options to extend). The contract covers service desk, desktop and datacentre services to over 70 locations across Scotland.

The contract is Atos’ first win as an approved supplier on the Scottish Government IT managed services framework agreement (see Atos among winners of £300m Scottish Government IT framework). The other large suppliers on Lot 1 of the framework are BT, Fujitsu and Logica.

Atos has had some other significant successes in the region; in October 2010 it won a £10m, five-year IT contract with Aberdeen City Council (see Atos breaks into local government with Aberdeen win) and in March this year it was announced as an Official Supporter of Glasgow 2014 for Games Management Systems and Games Information Systems.  Indeed, it appears Atos is winning where Capgemini is struggling to maintain a presence; Capgemini’s core deal in the region – e-Procurement Scotland – went to Amor Group in September 2011 and it was also notable for its absence on the IT managed services framework.
