Computacenter has announced it has taken a £500k minority stake in Basingstoke-based Microsoft SharePoint configuration services business, ICS Solutions. Computacenter CFO, Tony Conophy, told me that ICS, with 35 employees, had been a long-time partner and was looking to expand its business. Needless to say, Computacenter was keen that the expansion would work in its favour and indeed, he expects that over time, perhaps 70-80% of ICS’ revenues will channel through Computacenter. This is the first time that Computacenter has taken a ‘softly-softly’ approach to potential acquisitions – assuming that this is the direction that the deal will eventually head – but it doesn’t sounds like this will be a regular thing.
