Pilat Media expands via joint venture

LogoPilat Media, the UK provider of business management software to the media industry, is treading water in terms overall performance with half time results (to June 30 2012) pretty much in line with the same time last year and showing little variation in overall direction from Q1 2012 (see Implementation costs hurt Pilat Media). Revenue has dropped back slightly (from £10.84m to £10.46m) but the company has swapped the £1.7m year ago loss for a modest £44,000 profit. New modules and new features for its leading IBMS product have stimulated demand, and it says its has a good pipeline but is experiencing delays in closing deals.

Its tight focus on media companies means its market is restricted but it is being proactive about looking for new opportunities. In June it put up an initial £250,000 to establish a joint venture with UK start-up SimpleStream, called OTTilus in a bid to expand is position in the Over The Top (OTT) TV industry – TV everywhere, anywhere.  As we have said before, this market is at an early stage and Pilat Media is investing now in the hopes of rewards later.
