We said that the contract renewal would not be a shoe-in (see here) and so it wasn’t! UK business process services leader Capita, has lost its contract to support the new Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) operations at the Home Office Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). The Home Office will extend Capita’s existing contract beyond the 31st March 2013 expiry date pending handover to the new (as yet unnamed) supplier.

Capita has held the CRB contract, worth £40m p.a., for a decade. This was Capita's only major contract (i.e. valued over 1% of Capita’s total turnover) that was due for rebid in 2013. The next is the £50m p.a. Civil Service Learning contract, which comes up for renewal in 2014.

Well, you can’t win them all!
