Clik here to view. The EMEA unit of Tokyo-headquartered NTT Data (the publicly quoted network and IT services arm of Japanese telecoms giant, NTT) has acquired Hampshire-headquartered, Adobe bespoke application development shop, RMA Consulting in a bid to – well, I’m really not quite sure why!
You see, NTT Data EMEA seems to be in a bit of a pickle, having recently lost one of its key execs, Ian Miller, not long after a curious reorganisation that aimed to achieve some sort of cohesion in its EMEA operations. Miller (no relation) joined NTT Data at the end of 2010 as part of its acquisition of Boston-based IT services firm, Keane (see NTT keen on Keane). Miller joined Keane in 2009 to lead its EMEA business after a rich and varied career which included four years as CEO of UK IT staff agency Parity, and many years at EDS and, prior, PA Consulting.
NTT Data had high hopes of becoming a global IT services player but, perhaps not surprisingly (at least, not to us) just has not been able to get it right. Presaging Miller’s departure, NTT Data reorganised its EMEA operations (see NTT Data shows its true colours in Europe) and thence continued on the acquisition trail (see itelligence finds a Blueprint for growth) in what appears to be a rather haphazard attempt to build bulk at the expense of unity. The RMA deal does little to help.
Anyway, terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but apparently RMA had revenues of £8.3m. Its founders will remain with NTT Data (well, that’s the plan anyway).
