Infosys set to mine Lodestone

The deal is done, and Zurich-based SAP consultancy, Lodestone, now officially belongs to Infosys (see Infosys buys ‘Swiss Axon’). Infosys will in effect reverse its European management consulting services (MCS) activities into Lodestone’s European operation, whereas in the US, where Lodestone has only a small presence, Lodestone will roll in under the covers of Infosys US MCS.

As I have said before, Infosys will have much to prove, especially in Europe, where there is more of a risk that clients may think that if they engage Infosys on a consulting assignment, the ‘answer’ will always be SAP. And in consulting, perception counts high.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. There’s little overlap between Infosys’ clients and Lodestone’s so there’s a chance of a few ‘quick wins’ which would really help get the ball rolling.  But it will be what happens next that will really count.
