I guess most HotViews readers have visited New York City and New Jersey. So the devastation caused by Sandy really does bring it home when you recognise many of the scenes and have so many friends who are directly involved.
One effect has been that NASDAQ and NYSE have been out of action now for 2 days. A lot happened in our sector in the last few days – Windows 8, new smartphones and tablets etc. The LSE has done well in the intervening days and mood for the Eurozone has improved (been here before…) We haven’t seen the effect of Apple said Goodbye to Forstall and Browett either (Note – In our report yesterday, we mentioned John Browett’s £38m Golden Hello. This was the total reward if he had stayed for 5 years. It is clearly a lot, lot less than this as he stayed for only 6 months)
We await the promised Halloween reopening of the US Stock Exchanges later today. Will it be 'trick' or 'treat'?
