Oracle buys more cloud PPM assets

Oracle has been buying again, this time focusing on project portfolio management (PPM) with the purchase of Instansis for an undisclosed sum. Its cloud and on premise PPM capabilities are destined to enhance Fusion Applications and Primavera. It does overlap with one of Oracle’s other recent purchases  - Skira - so there is some juggling to do. It does not change Oracle’s cloud position, just tucks into its growing cloud portfolio. But it does act as a reminder that cloud software is not just about the jazzy front office and line of business applications  - the back office and management side is overlooked but has the potential to generate substantial revenue for suppliers too.
