I read with interest in The Times yesterday (it’s behind the paywall but for those of you that can access it, this is the link) of Michael Gove’s plans for the Department for Education (DfE).
In what The Times referred to as a “radical experiment”, Gove intends to cut a quarter of his department’s workforce (about a thousand civil servants) within two years as part of his plan to cut administrative costs by 50% by 2016. That means spending will fall by £290m. Gove’s actions are interesting for SITS suppliers to the UK public sector for a number of reasons.
