Infosys apprentices – 3 months on

I had the chance to meet four of the apprentices that Bangalore-based IT services firm Infosys took on board in their UK operations back in September (see here) and was hugely impressed with the enthusiasm that they have (and that managment has) for the programme. Only one of the apprentices is actually working in IT; the others are working in other departments such as Finance and HR. All of them are doing ‘useful’ work and are learning much about ‘big business’. Most of them will be there for 18 months and will have the chance to act as ambassadors for the next tranche of apprentices that Infosys UK expects to take on early next year. Would we like to see Infosys – and indeed its India-centric peers – do more (and see  More good news on apprenticeships)? Of course we would! But at least Infosys has made a start!
