Clik here to view.IT solutions and managed services provider, Logicalis, has appointed a new Managing Director for its UK operations. Mark Starkey, who has been with company since 1998 and who most recently filled the COO role, has been named in the press as the successful candidate. Thanks to Sam Trendall, journalist at www.channelweb.co.uk, for bringing this to our attention.
In November of last year it was revealed that long-time MD, Tom Kelly, would hand over the reins to a replacement after almost ten years with the company (see Logicalis UK MD to depart in the New Year). When we spoke to Ian Cook, Logicalis CEO, towards the end of last year, he reiterated that he wanted to ensure a very smooth changeover when bringing in a replacement. By appointing an internal candidate with Starkey’s experience, the UK operation (which accounts for 24% of total revenue at Logicalis) is certainly going to get that.
Starkey has said cloud will play a central role in the company’s growth strategy in the years to come and that his priority is to ensure the operation is focused on profitable growth. For the first six months of its FY13, the firm highlighted conditions in the UK as being “challenging” (see UK market still challenging for Logicalis), while FY12 saw a year of flat revenues. Starkey will have his work cut out growing the business in a market that is set to remain difficult this year. However, we are confident that with his experience and inside knowledge Logicalis is starting the year in the best possible hands.
