Samsung Further to my post last night – Further evidence of Diversity of PerformanceSamsung has announced a 88% rise in operating profits and a 18% rise in sales in Q4 2012 (yoy); mainly due to a doubling of its profits and 58% rise in revenues (yoy) from mobile. According to the BBC, Samsung sold 63m smartphones in the quarter – way ahead of the 47m sold by Apple.

Samsung did, however, ‘warn’ that smartphones would face increased price competition this year plus ‘slowing demand in developed markets’.

As I said in my earlier article, Samsung shares had only risen by 11% since 21st Sept 12. Last night they fell 1.1%.

Samsung really has been THE smartphone success story of the last year – taking that crown from Apple. IF you believe that the next game-changer is a revolution in how we integrate smartphones, tablets and TVs, then Samsung is actually, in some areas,  better placed than Apple to grab our attention. But it seems our resident TV expert, Anthony Miller, having bought a new Samsung TV last week (See RIP CRT) is now Pining for his Panny.
