In a somewhat unexpected development (at least it was to me but what do I know?), AIM-listed communications services firm Daisy Group has been contracted to manage failed 2e2’s data centres (see 2e2 – The aftermath) on behalf of Oakley Capital Private Equity. Daisy had reportedly been in the frame to acquire some or all of 2e2 but like all the other potential buyers, apparently walked away when the extent of the mess became clear.
Oakley acquired the business and assets of the 2e2’s data centre operations through a special purpose vehicle, Daisy Data Centre Solutions Limited. Terms were not disclosed but I suspect if money changed hands it would more likely have been from seller to buyer rather than the other way round! Anyway, good news (or at least better news) for 2e2’s beleaguered data centre clients for whom the lights were due to go out this very day.
