A peek behind the FY12 headline numbers soon uncovered some interesting detail from rising tier 2 business applications provider Unit4. On the surface the results were solid but hardly exciting - group revenue was up 5.4% to €469.8m, compared to 8% growth last year (see here) – the interesting stories were around the expanding public sector and SaaS areas of the business.
Unit4 is becoming a persistent irritant to the likes of SAP and Oracle in the UK public sector – while also making progress in the private sector. It is also making strong progress on the SaaS front. While this is changing the shape of Unit4’s revenue stream, the company is also seeing changes in buyer behaviour around the usual end of year budget flush. Its experiences provide valuable insight into SaaS adoption within enterprises, with signs of changes in organisations’ willingness to adopt SaaS for core application areas like financials. We take a deeper dive into the Unit4’s public sector and SaaS experiences in HotViewsExtra here, but you have to be a TechMarketView subscriber to access it.
