SDL boosts mobile capability with bemoko acquisition

Translation and content management software and services provider SDL has strengthened its offering in the mobile web development space with the acquisition of bemoko. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it looks to be a very small bolt-on acquisition for SDL compared to the purchase of Alterian back in 2012. Founded in 2007, Bemoko specialises in delivering web content for mobile devices – that doesn’t just mean resizing it for smaller screens but also intelligently delivering the content that customers want when they are mobile. Given its recent lacklustre financial performance (see SDL ‘warns’ again), SDL will be hoping that the addition of bemoko quickly generates fresh revenue opportunities. Bemoko’s technology is certainly a useful addition to SDL’s toolkit that should enhance its ability to implement mobile website management and multi-channel delivery.
