Despite its rather late commitment to SaaS towards the end of last year via the launch of its aCloud platform (see Access Group takes to the cloud), it is good to see Access Group moving fast to populate it. The latest addition is aCloud CRM, which adds to the existing mix of in-house developed and acquired SaaS assets. The company has been doing well since the Lyceum-backed £50m MBO in 2011. Revenue was up 16% yoy to £32.9m and EBITDA up 47% to £6.7m for the year ending June 30 2012. The commitment to SaaS should help it increase its competitive stance although it is up against fierce competition from SaaS offerings from the likes of Salesforce.com, Netsuite, SAP Business ByDesign, and even modernising Sage and it is a lomg way from providing a full integrated SaaS CRM or ERP suite. As noted in the Cloud UK 2013 report in the ESASViews research stream, UK companies are keen SaaS adoptors, although there is still a bias towards ‘traditional’ SaaS areas like CRM and industry specific solutions. Access is following an established path but at least it is following it.
