I first heard the term 'design thinking' when I met up early this year with Ysmar Vianna, co-founder of Brazilian consultancy MJV (see MJV gets creative with ‘Design Thinking’) and thought it sounded 'interesting'. Just a few weeks later I came across it again when I met up with NTT Data EMEA SVP, Heather Moore. (see NTT DATA seeing the ‘design light' from RMA). The company had acquired Hampshire-headquartered, RMA Consulting a few months prior (see NTT Data goes ‘bespoke’ with RMA Consulting) which also specialises in 'design thinking'.
Well, now Accenture has jumped on the bandwagon, acquiring London-headquartered international design consultancy Fjord. Terms were not disclosed. Fjord was founded in 2001 and has 200 consultants. Its sweet spot is using digital media to redesign business processes.
When Accenture gets on board a bandwagon then you know this is serious stuff!
