After appointing tech entrepreneur John O’Connell as non-executive chairman in March (see here), back office optimisation software provider eg solutions is now further strengthening its senior management team.

Spencer Mallder, SVP, GM and CTO of Aspect Software Inc is taking on a non-exec director role, following Aspect’s minority 11% investment in the business in March (see here). Aspect paid £1.25m in return for a strategic partnership and reseller agreement with eg, as well as the option to appoint a director to the board, which it is now doing.

Mallder has a 25 year track record in the IT industry having worked at IBM, Booz and Hamilton and Ernst & Young, and founding his own business Software Sapience in 2011. Prior to joining Aspect he was CTO at ecommerce startup Ziftit. Mallder is responsible for Aspect's workforce optimisation software and solutions business. So his appointment should be a good fit.

eg also appointed Robert Glenn (Rob) as COO, joining the business from big data analytics player PROS Pricing where he was GM EMEA. Glenn has also held senior positions at 360 Global, Gresham Computing, Tibco and Staffware.

John O’Connell sees eg’s relationship with Aspect as ‘a fundamental part of our future growth plans’, so it's clearly vital to have representation from them on the board. Meanwhile Glenn’s appointment is intended to further develop eg’s direct and indirect sales capability. eg needs to deliver more consistent results (see here), so these appointments should help.
