The special committee of Dell's board today rejected the request to change the shareholder voting rules for the proposed Micheal Dell/SilverLake bid.
You can follow the story in the HotViews archives. But, in Is Dell Deal Dying? we put forward the view that SilverLake might well now be hoping for the deal to collapse as a way of getting out a deal that looks increasingly unattractive. They might even get some compensation!
I guess we will know the outcome fairly soon as it is unlikely that the vote scheduled for Friday will be further delayed. It is interesting that Dell's share price is now falling. Down 2% as I write at $12.49 - well below the $13.75 revised bid price. Probably nothing compared to the fall we would see if the deal collapses.
