blinkx reaching for bigger audience with Grab Media

LogoVideo search platform provider blinkx is adding to its portfolio with the addition of assets from online video content and syndication and advertising platform provider Grab Media. The all-cash transaction - terms were not disclosed but it is a “modest” acquisition with no material impact on revenue or cost base in the near term - is designed to boost audience numbers and increase appeal to advertisers, publishers and content providers. It will augment blinkx's emerging syndication capabilities and the VideoAdvantage publisher portal that was released in beta in July 2013 which allows publishers to embed blinkx video content into their sites and also sets the scene for a revenue sharing programme. With its syndication and audience volume focus, Grab Media adds to blinkx's ability to monetise its assets, thus marking it as a small but strategic purchase for the company who has been reporting strong growth on revenue and profits (see here).
