Armed with only a teaser video of its forthcoming mobile cloud app (OK, there’s probably a prototype too), Huddersfield-based SaaS start-up Adventoris has raised £600k in a funding round led by the Angel CoFund.
Adventoris is playing coy about what its “ground-breaking” product will actually do; the funding will be used to get the product fit for launch. Adventoris was founded in January 2012 by its CEO, ex-accountant James Clarkson and its COO, IT consultant Tim Longdon.
The government-backed Angel CoFund also recently invested in Tyne-and-Wear based web marketing software firm, 4th Aspect (see Syndication a key funding aspect for 4th Aspect). As I said at the time, UK investors seem very wary about making big bets on start-ups, leaving entrepreneurs in the invidious position of having to hawk around their begging bowls to scrape together what are really pitifully small sums of dosh.
I have no idea whether Adventoris’ product is the “ground-breaker” they think it is. But I do wonder whether it could be so – and get there faster – had they been able to raise ten-times that amount from a single source (eg see mPowa empowered).
