A month back in Excitement mounts at Yahoo! I told you how we just couldn’t contain our excitement about the forthcoming unveiling of the new Yahoo! logo. Indeed I said ‘if you only read Hotviews for one thing over the next month, this should be it.’
Today Yahoo! showed off their new logo to the world. CEO Marissa Mayer waxed lyrical about not having straight lines in the logo ‘as straight lines don’t exist in the human form and are extremely rare in nature, so the human touch in the logo is that all the lines and forms all have at least a slight curve’. There are pages more about ‘mathematical consistency’, the ‘Yahoo yodel’ and ‘upper case v lower case’ but I lost the will to live.
We are sure that this logo change will be the catalyst for the long anticipated revival in Yahoo’s fortunes and that the time Mayer has devoted to it will prove to be time well spent…
