I caught up again with Bernard Edwards, co-founding Chairman of ‘enterprise portfolio governance’ software firm, Salamander (see A bright night for Intellect). Edwards had a long and varied career – including over a decade with Burroughs/Unisys – before founding MooD, Salamander’s predecessor company and now the brand name of its core software product. He teamed up with co-founder and now Chief Strategy Officer, Dick Whittington (no puns please) back in 1996, who was then lecturing at the University of York. Fast-forward 15 years and today Salamander employs 90 staff, turns over some £10m p.a. and is pleasingly profitable.
