Capgemini has announced a new five-year contract with Centrica to manage and support its corporate global SAP services in the UK, Norway, the Netherlands and North America. The contract includes SAP applications and infrastructure management but does not include SAP customer care and billing for British Gas. We understand the contract is worth close to £19 million over the period.
This looks like a good win for Capgemini in an increasingly competitive application management sector where both onshore and offshore players are vying for business. Capgemini’s selection indicates that it has built up a good relationship with Centrica over the years while it has been working with the company to increase the use of SAP across its business. Our research suggests a growing trend for investment in enterprise applications like ERP in response to globalisation, regulation and operational efficiency drivers (see Application Services supplier landscape 2012/13) and Capgemini’s applications services business has been one of the beneficiaries.
