Colchester-based business application provider Access Technology Group took a slightly different approach with its latest acquisition, buying market reach and customer base more than product with the purchase of CompeteIT, for an undisclosed sum. CompeteIT is the largest reseller of the manufacturing software solution FactoryMaster, which Access snapped up last month (see here).
The move is strategic and aligns with Access Group’s move away from the dealer model. CompeteIT (and FactoryMaster) also has a presence in the oil and gas, precision engineering and aviation verticals that Access is keen to exploit. With this move Access adds to its scale and as it will be taking on the staff, it will have more feet on the street. CompeteIT also operates in the CRM space, which will overlap with existing Access software assets so some juggling may be required here.
