Carrenza, one of TechMarketView’s most recent Little British Battlers, has signed a deal with Majestic Wine to host its new Intershop ecommerce platform. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The wine retailer has 200+ stores throughout the UK and its existing ecommerce platform (set up in 2000) has been struggling with the increase in online wine purchases. Carrenza will provide the infrastructure that hosts the Intershop platform, as well as the supporting management services. One of the main objectives for Majestic Wine was to ensure scalability of its ecommerce platform to underpin future growth, but also to cope with seasonal swings, in the run up to Christmas, for example.
The announcement follows last month’s news that Carrenza is to host up to 60 WWF international websites (see Carrenza inks WWF deal). It seems this Little British Battler is on something of a roll – in both the private sectors and the public sector (see Lean Carrenza targets aggressive growth).
