August Equity-backed, SecureData, has completed the acquisition of security consultancy, SensePost. SensePost provides training, security assessments, consultancy and security research. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This is SecureData’s second bolt-on acquisition sinceAugust Equitymade its initial investment in July 2012. The first was Surrey-based, application delivery and security firm, Quadrant Networks - completed in November 2012 (see SecureData secures first acquisition).
As well as helping SecureData build out its full service security offering to help customers assess, detect, protect and respond, the addition of SensePost will contribute to the development of SecureData Labs - a service that will provide customers with “cutting-edgeresearch" to find new ways to address cyber threats.
SecureData is certainly not, however, alone in the world of full-service security services. Accumuli, for example, is a managed security firm and is also actively following the acquisition route (see Acquisitions boost Accumuli’s H1). That said, there is big demand for security services and, in particular, lots of opportunities for multiple players in the fragmented mid-market. We expect to see SecureData acquire again.
