We were pretty surprised to read in The Channel Register (see the story here) that Gary Bullard is leaving his role as CEO of Logicalis. Bullard was appointed CEO Designate in December, with the expectation that he would become CEO at the beginning of the new financial year in March 2014 (see Gary Bullard appointed Logicalis CEO).
Bullard is a highly experienced industry veteran, having had senior roles at Logica (now of course CGI) – see Gary Bullard’s challenge at Logica, BT and IBM. While things might not have worked out at Logicalis, we would fully expect to see him take on another big role in the industry in the future.
Very little light has been shed on the reason for Bullard’s departure; perhaps there was a clash between his view of the world as a services veteran versus the Logicalis view – with its strong heritage in resale.
As for the now vacant CEO role at Logicalis, it looks like the current plan is to not recruit from the outside and to re-assess the group structure. We are hoping to catch up with UK MD, Mark Starkey, once the financial year has closed to get the inside view on how the UK business has performed.
