Facebook's new features

Facebook logoAnother day, another new Facebook feature. Yesterday it was Facebook Messenger – a ‘free’ service in the UK (Apple iOS only initially - the Android version is available in the US) set to compete with Blackberry Messenger headon.

Then today, it was Twitter who must have started to tremble as Facebook launched its ‘Subscribe’ tag. Basically, just like Twitter, you can now subscribe to anybody’s public Status updates. So you could subscribe to Stephen Fry and get his constant stream of ‘wisdom & wit’ delivered directly to your own Facebook page. All this makes Facebook’s other recent update – the ability to make stuff on your Facebook page available ‘selectively’ -  even more important. Currently, only my ‘Friends’ can see what I put on Facebook. And, bluntly, I’ll probably keep it that way! But, knowing how keen many of you are on Twitter (and follow me on Twitter, you poor souls) I can see how this new Facebook feature will appeal.
