I’ve been banging on about ‘Buy your own Tech ‘ (BYOT) for some time now. This culminated in me using it as my main theme in my Prince’s Trust ‘State of the ICT Nation’ speech – Things have Changed - last week. See my post on the subject and one more thing.
Seems like BYOT is really gathering pace. Late last week I read the New York Times – More offices let workers choose their own devices. Well worth the read even though it does quote one of our competitors (all researchers catch up with TechMarketView’s themes eventually!).
The NYT quotes Citrix Systems saying that BYOT saves the company about 20% on each laptop over three years. Of the 1,000 or so employees in Citrix’s program, 46% have bought Mac computers, according to Paul Martine, Citrix’s chief information officer. “That was a little bit of a surprise.”
That comes as no surprise to me! Apple is the clear winner in BYOT.
