Once a year we take a peek at the fortunes of veteran AIM-listed ITSA (IT staff agency) Highams Systems Services just to check it’s still in business – and it still is, nearly 30 years on from its founding (see Highams waltzes on). But this may be the last year we see the Highams name on the stock market with the announcement that it is to acquire London-based digital media ITSA, Nakama, and in effect hand over control to its CEO. Highams will change its name to Nakama, but its legacy operations will still run under the Highams brand.
Actually, this seems to make great sense. Highams has been languishing for yonks as a legacy ITSA with an unrequited ambition to broaden both its geographical reach and modernise its technology recruitment portfolio. Frankly this was unlikely to happen organically. Who knows – perhaps this deal will be like the metaphorical butterfly emerging from a chrysalis!
