RM’s CEO Terry Sweeney, who’s been at the company in various guises for 13 years, is stepping down “to pursue his career outside RM”. His replacement, of sorts, is Rob Sirs. When RM announced its strategic review and board-level clear out last month (see RM clears out old furniture and rearranges the rest), it said that Sirs was one of those executives heading for the exit. Well now he’s not, he’s becoming Group Managing Director. Also announced today and perhaps more tellingly in the scheme of things, Martyn Ratcliffe has been appointed Executive Chairman, having led RM in a non-exec capacity since June.
So the transformation at the top of RM continues, as does the growing stamp of Mr Ratcliffe on its direction and fortunes. Strong leadership is surely a good thing for a company facing such challenges in its core education markets.
