Fair winds in wireless propel Anite

AniteThere’s more good news from Anite this morning in the shape of its half year trading update. The testing and travel software provider says that, thanks to growth from its handset testing business, “the Board's expectations for the Group have increased significantly for the year as a whole”. Anite shares are currently up 11% in early trading.

So as indicated back in September (see Anite still prospering from 4G preparations), the handset business is very much making hay while the 4G-derived sun shines. Revenue from handset testing was up “approximately 60%” in H1. There was a specific large piece of work in Q1 that helped to boost that number, and Anite admits it can’t keep growth at quite such a breakneck pace in H2. Nonetheless, the company is clearly prospering from its long-established position in wireless testing (it launched its operations in this area in the early 90s), as equipment manufacturers and operators gear up for the kick-off of 4G services in 2013.

Meanwhile it’s business as usual in the other two legs of this diversified business, namely network testing and travel software. In other words, handset testing remains very much the source of growth at Anite. More detail will be available when Anite releases its half year results in three weeks time.
