Amdocs is one of those vendors who sits at an interesting technology intersection given its focus on customer experience systems for multi-play telco service providers (e.g. those who provide mobile, cable, satellite, online television) and the market shift to mobile and online services in general. Bridging the enterprise software and telco environments is no easy feat and Amdocs has certainly had highs and lows over its long life. TechMarketView hasn’t written specifically about Amdocs before but its Q4 results piqued my interest.
It wasn’t the results themselves: revenue up 6.6% YoY and in line with guidance at $812m but net profits fairly flat, although European revenue was up c12%. The reference to its revitalizing European business was interesting but its promise of “new, industry-leading projects at several of the world's largest operators” in 2012 was intriguing. Regardless of the marketing spin, providing service providers with the means to create winning customer experiences to increase their ability to make money from their data services has to appeal in this mobile age. I’ll be keeping a watch on Amdocs to see how this long-established software provider progresses - interesting things happen at intersections and Amdocs is at both technology and market intersections.
