Highams gifts Nakama a pleasing half-time present

In its last reporting period as a stand-alone company, the erstwhile Highams System Services – now trading as Nakama (see Last waltz for Highams as Nakama reverses in) – painted an improving picture of its IT staffing business. Revenues for the 6 months to 30th Sept. grew 8% to £4.8m, and operating margins expanded by 30bps to 3.2%. Highams’ heartland is the UK financial services sector, for which chairman Ken Ford advised that activity ‘held firm’. Nakama adds IT staffing in the digital media sector to the mix, and that sounds like a good place to be! By the way, Nakama in Japanese alludes to colleagues or a circle of friends. Not many people know that.
