The grooming has entered the next phase – the press debut. That is, of Rishad Premji, son of Wipro chairman Azim Premji, assumed by all bar the extremely myopic to be the heir to his father’s business.
The mini-hagiography in today’s Economic Times of India is apparently younger Premji’s first press outing, and was replete with finely crafted ‘personal anecdotes’ typical of the incisive journalism more usually associated with Hello magazine. Rishad Premji was quietly moved up the corporate ladder a year ago to become the company’s new chief strategy officer (see Son of Premji edges closer to the Wipro throne). Sounds like another elevation is not far off – but will the next step up the ladder be direct to the chair?
