Good news from Atos today. It has announced the signing of a ten-year contract “worth in excess of £100m” with EDF Energy to provide data centre services for its UK business. Atos has committed to consolidating EDF Energy’s datacentre infrastructure in order to cut costs by 20% over the life of the contract.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of Capemini’s signing of a similar size deal to provide support services to EDF Energy – see Capgemini UK generates £100m deal with EDF Energy. Both companies already boasted deals with EDF in France.
The UK energy & utilities sector is showing great promise for 2012 after a shaky 2011.
