It’s being reported that Computacenter has not been able to agree terms with Cumbria County Council. The services firm had been appointed preferred bidder on the council’s 5-year, c£60m ICT outsourcing contract in January (see Computacenter preferred bidder at Cumbria).
So not great news for the client or for Computacenter, whose UK business looked like it was putting a disappointing 2011 behind it with a number of wins in recent months (see Computacenter: benefitting from infrastructure service fragmentation). Still, it’s better to do no deal than a bad deal that could have painful consequences further down the line. Meanwhile Agilisys, the incumbent at Cumbria and notable absentee from the shortlist for said new outsourcing contract, is continuing with service as usual for now.
