BT has announced it is to sell BT Global Services’ applications development business in France. The buyer is French IT services firm Osiatis - a new name to us, but by the look of things a significant and growing player in its home market, with almost €300m in revenue.
Gross assets of the business being sold are a shade under €2m, so this deal is very small haricots in the scheme of things for BT Global Services, which had revenue of £7.8bn in FY12. Don’t expect a wider withdrawal from applications interests in general either. As our soon-to-be published rankings will show, BT remains a leading player in the UK applications services market. It's not going to walk away from that business any time soon.
