CGI goes Countrywide – without Logica apparently!

Montreal-based CGI has won a major IT outsourcing contract in its own right with UK property services group, Countrywide, days before its acquisition of Logica is done and dusted.

The deal is worth £90m over 7 years, and 90 staff will TUPE across to CGI. This is I guess one of the increasingly rare 'first generation' major outsourcing deals left to grab. 

I was speaking with the UK head of a major player in the IT services market yesterday and there was some surprise at the news as CGI is rarely seen in combat on our shores. That will all change of course with Logica under its belt, but meanwhile this deal looks like a real left-fielder!
