WANdisco gets smart with subversion!

logoSheffield-headquartered WANdisco (Wide Area Network Distributed Computing), the self-styled ‘leading provider of global collaboration software’, has acquired the SmartSVN product from German software company, Syntevo for $1m. SmartSVN is a 3rd party user interface for the open source (i.e. free) version control product Apache Subversion. Seems sensible given that WANdisco’s primary users have been the Subversion system administrators who maintain the servers in client organisations. WANdisco floated on AIM in June and seems to be finding its feet (see Bookings up 60% at WANdisco). We will find out more later this month when it reports half-time results.
