Clik here to view.Bangalore-based IT services firm Infosys has taken on board its first five apprentices in the UK, kicking off a programme that should see 100 such placements over the next 5 years (see The Infosys Apprentice – You’re Hired!). The first group – visited recently by Prince Andrew – has started workplace based Level 3 Business and Administration and Level 3 Systems and Networking qualifications within the National Apprenticeship Scheme (NAS). They will spend 12 to 18 months training within Infosys’ Finance, Marketing, IT, HR and Sales departments. Yes, I know it’s only five, and yes there’s more than 5 people’s work offshored, but at least it’s a start for five youngsters who might otherwise still be scratching around to find a job.
