Consilium morphs into TotalMobile

TotalMobile logoBelfast-based Consilium Technologies has become TotalMobile Ltd in a re-branding exercise that reflects its commitment to mobile platforms. Consilium, which started life as TASK Software in 1985, has had a strong mobile story to tell for a while. Its TotalMobile App Platform is a workflow management product designed to ‘increase productivity, improve service and save money’ by making workers mobile (see our ‘Breaking mobile market inhibitors’ report for more background if you’re an ESASViews subscriber).

Chatting to CEO Colin Reid earlier, it sounds as if business is picking up particularly in UK local government (which accounts for the bulk of its revenue) and healthcare markets. Reid reports increased interest from local government where enterprise mobility is “finally taking off”. The newly rebranded TotalMobile has, for example, recently rolled out enterprise mobile solutions to Councils in Fife, Cardiff and Newcastle.

However, Reid sees healthcare as TotalMobile’s biggest area of opportunity. The SME entered the healthcare market in earnest in the middle of last year and the sector already represents some 10% of total revenue. It’s gaining most traction in the community health space, where it competes with Advanced Computer Software’s iNurse offering, amongst others.

As long-time HotViews readers will know, we also see mobility as an area of continuing opportunity in the UK healthcare SITS sector (PublicSectorViewssubscribers can see our UK SITS Healthcare Market Trends and Forecasts reports for more). And TotalMobile appears relatively well positioned to benefit from the trend given its focus on the user experience, which is important to clinicians; and track record of working in Northern Ireland, where the provision of health and social care is already integrated.
