Facebook is boosting its mobile capabilities with the proposed acquisition of some of the assets of UK-based Monoidics, who provides mobile bug scanning software. It is also an investment in talent because the company also plans to hire some of the engineers, who will move to Facebook’s London office. Terms were not disclosed and although it is probably relatively small in terms of cost, the software could be an important aid when it comes to maintaining quality on rapid application release cycles. With fast release cycles endemic in the mobile and SaaS areas automatic bug detection and visualisation could be an area of interest for other developers.
